Foraging Experiences

Denise has been running foraging workshops for the last 7 years and has even been interviewed about it by the BBC. She is horticulturally trained, so knows exactly what plants are edible and which ones to keep away from. Denise is also a renowned Chef, hosting supper clubs and restaurant takeovers across Lancashire. Look out for her ‘Dining Experience’ foraging workshops for a gourmet lunch or dinner and some amazing new flavours.

Summer Foraging & Dining Experience
Join the Gardening Lady on a guided Summer foraging walk with an exciting lunch to follow.

Starting at the Gardening Lady Studio, the walk will be slow-paced and through a local woodland. You will need a good pair of walking boots and weather appropriate clothing. Don’t forget a pad and pen for taking notes and a camera to take pictures of the plants you find.

During the walk, we will cover the basics of foraging. You will learn about the plants around you and which ones are safe to forage at this time of year.

We will return to the Gardening Lady studio to enjoy a very special lunch of foraged inspired foods, tea and cake.

This workshop will bring you closer to nature, calm the nerves, and fill you with nutritious and healthy food you never knew was there. All foliage, materials and equipment are included.

The lunch will be vegetarian. Please let me know of any dietary requirements.

Foraging Drinkies in the Woods Experience

During the late summer and autumn, I also run Foraging Experience walks where I show you the different wild plants and fruits that can be turned into drinks. I’ll show you how you can gather fruits to infuse your gin, a rather surprising ingredient for an ‘old fashioned’ cocktail and some horticultural colour-changing magic. The walk will end with drinks and stories around the fire behind my workshop studio.

Foraging Pickling and Preserving Experience

During the late summer and autumn, Denise also runs Foraging Experience walks where she gives you a big jar and you collect fruits and plants to pickle. These pickles and preserves last literally all year and provide very unique flavours for you to kook with throughout the year. Following the walk, the Gardening Lady will show you how to pickle your foraged finds and you will leave the session with a jar of magical new flavours for your kitchen.
